This Surrealist violin was the creation of Jacques Grandchamp (born 1950), the French luthier and sculptor. Born in Gevrey-Chambertin in eastern France, he opened his first workshop in 1974 and has since won several prestigious prizes including the Bleustein-Blancher foundation prize in 1976. His work is displayed in both contemporary art and musical instrument museums. This piece was exhibited at the Musée de Crémone in 2013.
