Objects connected with magic and religion had a great fascination for Jean-Claude. He said he was drawn to them without ever needing to understand what they represented. All spiritual enterprises represented the same thing, in his eyes, and it was eventually only important to figure out the systems that could deliver what they promised. He was drawn to the sometimes flamboyant, but more usually to the discreet objects representing different beliefs, and once he had one that touched him, he never let it go. Not that there were ever many people who understood what he had, but for those who did, his assemblage of esoterica was a delight. Particularly when he was there to talk about them.
